Shrek The Musical

So today I review Shrek The Musical, so I'm sure you know the story of Shrek an ogre and a donkey who go out on a journey to save Princess Fiona from the tower that's guarded by a dragon. So this musical is based of the movie and follows that same plot. So I really didn't like this version of the story and so first I want to start by talking about the things I liked about is musical adaption. So I did like that they added some background with the characters so we knew where they came from. I did like that because we knew why the way they were. Now the costumes were just fantastic, all of them looked great especially Shrek and Lord Farquaads, just great. I also loved the sets and how they changed from set to set it just looked wonderful. Now the music in this musical was actually pretty good, I wish they would have used more songs from the movie though. Now that's all I have for positives not a lot I'm afraid. This musical just ruined the movie for me. So I really wish they would have just stuck the script of the movie I think it would have been better. The acting was super cheesy and just over the top now usually in a play the actors are supposed to but I just felt annoying. So I also didn't like that they left out some things from the movie or the changed and moved it to a different spot and it just annoyed me. I also really hated that they took some lines that should have been heartwarming and made them try to be funny but they were just awkward to me. I also really hated Lord Farquaad he was kind of a fairy princess and wasn't at all evil, he was a really little girl and he was just annoying and I hated it so much he was just so stupid.  So yeah just a bad adaption of the classic movie in my opinion.

So what are the people saying? Well people actually liked it it won some Tony awards and I just didn't like. The people thought it was great and a great story to put into a musical and loved everything about it. However I just didn't like it.

So as for a ratting I give this a 3/10
